David Alpert

Board Member

David is an attorney at Covington & Burling, LLP, specializing in commercial litigation and white-collar investigations. His pro bono practice focuses on criminal justice and policing. He previously worked as an attorney for O'Melveny & Myers, LLP, and clerked for Judge Amit Mehta of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. David worked on President Biden's 2020 campaign helping promote the right to vote in the battleground state of Arizona.

Previously, he worked at Deloitte Consulting in their federal government practice serving such clients as the Postal Service, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the FBI. While at Deloitte, David also led and taught math through their award-winning pro bono SAT tutoring program. David received his bachelor's degree from the College of William & Mary in Virginia with majors in government and religious studies, and from Columbia University where he received both law and business degrees. While in graduate school, David interned for the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, the ACLU, the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund, and worked on Guantanamo detainee cases.

David is a native Angeleno and a proud husband and father of three.
